Initially it was available with four-door sedan body (production code: GC) and five-door family (GM) and by late 1995, added a two-door coupe variant (GF), similar in shape to the sedan. The gearbox was a five-speed manual and four-speed automatic.
The engines were all four-cylinder gasoline and opposites. The weather was normal versions 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, 2.2 and 2.5 liters. The Impreza WRX or Impreza GT Turbo, as it is called the sports version, incorporating a 2.0-liter turbocharged developing 211, then 218 hp of maximum power, except Japan, where he had a maximum power of 240, 260 and 280 hp.
